General Information

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was a law which was introduced in 1990 to ensure public buildings are designed to accommodate people with disabilities. ADA Railing is a continuous railing which is easily graspable.

The majority of local building codes have adopted certain mandatory requirements which allow for easier accessibility to public buildings. Laws which stipulate railing code requirements include the need for handrails up stairs and along ramps and other walking conditions which have a rise of more than six inches. Building codes are set forth in the manual published by the ADAAG in 2004 entitled as a guide to the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility.
To ensure that your building is meeting all ADA requirements and local building codes, call Atlantic Aluminum Products and speak with an estimator who can provide you details on your project. Our ADA compliant grab rail and handrail meets all specifications for continuous gripping surfaces and height and clearance requirements.
