Operation Home

Durning October and November of 2008, Atlantic Aluminum Products is collaborating with the Milford based radio station, Cool 101.3 and  other area businesses, to raise awareness and donations for four deserving Veteran based charities.  By working with local residents and businesses,  Operation Home hopes to bring the community together to say, “Thank You”, to Delaware’s service men and women.

Home of the Brave, a nonprofit organization in Milford was Operation Home’s first organization to be honored.  Home of the Brave helps homeless veterans get back on their feet by assisting them to find temporary and permanent housing.  They also provide access to psychological and medical treatment centers.  During the week of October 13-18th, Operation Home raised money and household items to help offset the costs of the daily necessities that keep Home of the Brave operating.

The Delaware Community Appreciation Group is the beneficiary of the second week of Operation Home.  DCAG makes sure that wounded military personnel who are treated at the Walter Reed Medical Center are assisted.  By providing everything from phone cards to organizing an Annual fatherr’s Day Barbecue, DCAG does everything possible to make sure soldiers and their families receive encouragement during their stay at the hospital.

Last week, Operation Home sponsored the Kent County Vietnam Veteran’s of America who will be building a memorial to honor local soldiers who lost their lives.  New Castle and Sussex County already have Vietnam Memorials.  The Delaware VVA Chapter 850 hopes to raise $100,000 in order to get a Kent County Memorial built.

If you are interested in seeing what the monument at the Dover Levy Court will look like, visit www.delawarevva.com.  The last week of Operation Home will raise donations for the Delaware USO, which will benefit the 261st unit.  Since the 261st expects to be deployed shortly,  donations such as phone cards and other care package items are needed.

For those interested in contributing to these worthwhile charities, please call the Operation Home Pledgeline at (302) 839-1013 or toll free at (800) 314-1013.  You can also visit the Cool 101.3 website and click the Operation Home Link to fill out an online pledge form.  Or visit Atlantic   Aluminum Products website at www.atlanticaluminumproducts.com and click on the link to Cool 101.3.
